Adopt a Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Sampson, a 3-month-old lab mix puppy. He arrived with his three siblings in early January from the state of Texas and is adjusting to life in Buffalo.

Although at first a little unsure about the cold, white stuff, he now enjoys frolicking in fresh snow. Indoors, Sampson likes getting cozy where the sun shines through the windows onto the floor and in the perfectly sized mini arm chairs belonging to the young children in his foster home.

"Sam" is very gentle and playful with his four human foster siblings (ages 6 months to 6 years), but what really gets his tail wagging is when his much larger 10-year-old canine foster sister enters the room. He follows her every move and is always trying to engage her in play and the occasional snuggle. He is learning from her example -- sitting, where to go potty outside, etc. Sampson would do best with another active and playful dog in his forever home, an older buddy to hang out with and teach him the ropes.

He is doing well with crate training, working on his house-training and slowly learning how to walk on a leash. He has a lot of puppy energy -- especially in the mornings. He loves exploring the fenced backyard and sits and waits patiently at the door to come back in the house. Sampson is a curious little guy that likes to check out all the sounds and smells in his home. He only barks when he is in need of some attention. It's best to keep Sampson away from shoes and shoelaces (too tempting!) and keep him occupied with dog toys. He has tested out many of his canine foster sister's toys and loves them all!

Sampson is great with adults and young kids, and LOVES other dogs. He has not yet had the opportunity to meet a cat. While he can handle a couple of stairs, he is learning to navigate a full flight of stairs. If you pick him up to help, he will reward you with puppy kisses. You may not be able to carry him for long, however. He is growing quickly and at a recent routine visit, the veterinarian commented on his long legs!

Sampson is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, has been micro-chipped, and is on monthly flea/heartworm preventative medication. His adoption fee includes a free vet visit certificate to keep him on a healthy track.
